Repeaters

Wake County AUXCOMM Repeaters and Simplex Frequencies
(Updated May 2011)

General operational procedure: The following is intended to be a guide for initiating operations and should be considered as a “tree”-start at the top and work down. For obvious reasons, repeaters are preferred for county-wide or multi-county operations, owing to wider area coverage and the absence of “hidden” transmitters, but simplex frequencies also are part of our plan. Your operational activities and planning should include failure of any or all of the repeaters listed in this table. Be aggressive and creative and maintain an open mind about resources – we have lots of immediate and effective resources that can be applied.

The 146.88 repeater is to be used for STATE EOC and SKYWARN activations.

* 146.88(-)(no tone) WB4TQD – Primary repeater for State EOC, SKYWARN.

When operational, the NC State EOC will monitor 146.88 for traffic from any counties within range, or on the PCRN linking system. The State EOC also monitors 3923 kHz (the Tarheel Net) for traffic from stations that can not reach the EOC via repeaters. In addition, Central Carolina SKYWARN conducts its nets on 146.880.

If 146.88 fails or is unavailable, the backup is 146.64 (no tone). All operators should switch to 146.64 without further direction.

The 146.64 repeater is the primary repeater for WAKE CO. EOC avtivations

* 146.64 (-) (no tone) W4DW (RARS) – Primary repeater for Wake Co. AUXCOMM operations. Secondary repeater for State EOC.

When operational, the Wake County EOC and all field operators initially monitor 146.64 (no tone). County field operations may spread to any of the repeaters or simplex frequencies on the list below during drills and activations.

* 145.49 (-) (82.5 tone) W4BWC (CARS) – Secondary backup repeater for Wake Co. ARES operations. This repeater will be used for wide area operations when the 146.64 repeater is required by State EOC and Skywarn activations or otherwise unavailable.

* 444.300 (+)(82.5) W4FAL – Tertiary backup repeater for Wake AUXCOMM operations.

Simplex frequencies. If you believe that primary repeaters have failed and you cannot communicate using the simplex inputs, then try using any of the designated secondary/tertiary repeaters, but do not waste time – go to the simplex list below, try to make contact with any station and build-out your network.

* 147.450 – primary simplex frequency
* 147.570 – secondary simplex frequency

*446.000 – National UHF simplex calling frequency

ADDITIONAL REPEATERS

Below is a list of repeaters that have significant coverage in Wake County, and may be used at any time for emergency operations. We recommend that you program all these repeaters in memory for all radios you may use with AUXCOMM. For a broader list of area repeaters, consult the RARS web page, and the SERA Repeater Journal

We appreciate the repeater resources that are made available to us, and we thank the club and individual repeater owners. All the listed repeaters are open for all Amateur use, including emergencies. We will conduct routine nets and drills only on repeaters whose owners have agreed to that use.

If you would like a formal AUXCOMM agreement, please contact us.
